PATIENTS:
Advanced Glaucoma Care When Vision Is at Risk
Helping patients with complex and progressive glaucoma preserve vision and maintain independence through early detection and precision treatment.
Glaucoma is often silent. Many patients are diagnosed late or after disease progression despite treatment. In such cases, a mechanism-driven approach is essential to protect the optic nerve and stabilise remaining vision.
When Should You Seek Specialist Care?
You may benefit from advanced glaucoma evaluation if:
- Your eye pressure remains high despite multiple medications
- Your vision tests show progression
- You have been told your glaucoma is advanced or difficult to control
- You have secondary glaucoma after surgery, trauma, or inflammation
- You are worried about losing independence due to vision loss
My Approach
Focus on:
Early detection of progression
Mechanism-driven treatment strategies
Timely escalation of therapy
Preserving functional vision and quality of life
Goal of Care
The aim is not just pressure control.
It is to preserve vision that allows you to live independently and confidently.
REFERRING OPTHALMOLOGISTS
Complex Glaucoma Referral & Co-Management
Supporting ophthalmologists with advanced evaluation and escalation strategies for complex glaucoma cases.
Philosophy
Complex glaucoma management works best through collaboration and structured referral pathways.
The goal is to ensure patients receive timely escalation while maintaining continuity of care with their primary ophthalmologist.
When to Refer:
Consider referral when:
- Progression despite maximum tolerated medical therapy
- Uncontrolled IOP despite 3 medications
- Normal tension glaucoma with progression
- Secondary glaucoma (uveitic, traumatic, post-surgical)
- Advanced optic nerve damage requiring surgical planning
What Happens After Referral:
The patient undergoes:
- Detailed mechanism-based glaucoma evaluation
- Structural-functional correlation (OCT + visual fields)
- Individualised target pressure strategy
- Escalation planning including laser or surgical intervention if required
Co-Management Model:
After stabilisation:
- Detailed feedback is shared
- Follow-up strategy is discussed
- Patient can continue long-term care with the referring doctor
